WRAP I - (Includes free WRAP Book) Presented by: Ken Barton, ALWF, CPRS  Course Description:   The Wellness Recovery Action Plan® or WRAP®, is a self-designed prevention and wellness process that anyone can use to get well, stay well and make their life the way they want it to be. It was developed in 1997 by a group of people who were searching for ways to overcome their own mental health issues and move on to fulfilling their life dreams and goals.  It is now used extensively by people in all kinds of circumstances, and by health care, mental health and substance use systems all over the world to address all kinds of physical, mental health, substance use and life issues. WRAP has been studied extensively in rigorous research projects and is listed in the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices.   Objectives:   By the end of the training participants will be able to:  Participants will learn the five key concepts of WRAP. Create a wellness toolbox. Develop a personal WRAP plan.   About the Presenter: Ken Barton has worked as the Middle Tennessee, Mental Health Advocate for TMHCA (Tennessee Mental Health Consumers Association). He has worked for 20 years prior to coming to TMHCA in the field of HIV/AIDS as Director of Education and Prevention, a case manager and helped to create the Prevention for Positives Program called “Healthy U “for Nashville CARES. As a Mental Health Advocate, Ken worked with individuals with mental health issues through the Certified Peer Support programs in Tennessee and is also a Certified Peer Support Specialist in his home state of Kentucky. He provides training and education about the recovery process from Mental Health Issues to participants of mental health services. Ken also provides education and trainings to the general public on the Mental Health Recovery Process. As an Advocate, he was also responsible for legislative advocacy around mental health issues.  He is a Mental Health Consumer with a diagnosis of PTSD, Major Depression, and Panic Anxiety Disorder.      Ken is also employed by TAADAS as a Redline/Training Specialist. And is a trainer with the CPRS Program of Tennessee. Training FAQ: Q - How do I get my certificate?A - ONLY names entered into eventbrite will have a certificate ready upon completion.
