Group Description

NashDads is the 5th "generation" of the Middle Tennessee Stay At Home Dads group that started back in 1996. In 2009, we moved from e-mail to Meetup.Organization responsibility changes hands every few years as kids get older and start school. A few of our active members have been attending playgroups since 2005, but we've recently added quite a few newer dads to our ranks. Currently, we get our kids together every Wednesday morning for playgroup. Many of us are stay at home dads, but several do have work hours that leave them free at the right time.

Weather permitting, we usually meet at an area playground at 10:30am to let the little ones burn off some energy while we chat about sports, movies, politics, bargain hunting, poopy diapers, cars, TV shows, the tribulations of potty training or whatever/wherever the conversation may go. If it's too cold or wet outside, there are a number of indoor places we like to visit (including one of our homes).

After playing, those interested will head to a nearby restaurant for lunch (others go on about their pressure). We also have an occasional dads-night-out that usually meets at area restaurants with the occasional visit to a Nashville Sounds or Predators game or to catch a movie. The lunch and DNO group often includes dads who "graduated out" when their kids started school, so it's a nice way to keep in touch and see how the group has evolved over the years.

Annual/major events and outings include things like our Christmas party or a day trip somewhere cool like the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga or the Huntsville Rocket Center.
